CPSC Recalls Carabiners, Children’s PJs

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has issued an official recall for aluminum carabiners manufactured in the U.S. by Airway Heights, WA-based Omega Pacific Inc. (formerly asi/75051). The carabiners can break while in use, posing a risk of serious injury or death. So far, no injuries have been reported.

Six models of the Omega Pacific G-FIRST series aluminum carabiners are under recall. The words “Omega-17 UL Classified USA” are embossed on the front and “Meets NFPA 1983 17ED MBS kN 40 G” are on the back. The lot code “OD” is engraved on the bottom of the spine.

About 1,900 pieces were sold individually in silver, black and red at Arizona Hiking Shack, Atlantic Diving Supply, Austin Canoe & Kayak, Columbus Supply, DVBE Supply, Evac Systems, General Factory/WD Supply, Lafco Outillage, The Rescue Source and Witmer Associates (Firestone) stores nationwide, as well as at www.omega.com, from February 2017 through October 2017. The items cost between $31 and $51.

The CPSC advises consumers to stop using the carabiners immediately and contact Omega Pacific for a free replacement or full refund. Additionally, the CPSC has also issued a recall for children’s pajama sets from Woolino of Westlake, OH. The garments fail to meet federal flammability standards for children’s sleepwear, posing a risk of burn injuries. No injuries have been reported so far, and no ASI-listed companies were named in the recall.

The one-piece, long-sleeve, footed pajamas, made in China and imported by Jojo Group LLC, of Rocky River, OH, are made of 100% merino wool and have a blue, gray, lilac or lilac gray horizontal stripe print and a zipper that extends from the center of the neckline down to the left ankle. They were sold in sizes 6-12 months, 12-18 months, 18-24 months and 2T; “Woolino” and the size are printed on the back of the neckline.

Approximately 4,100 sets were sold at Clothes Pony and Caro Bambino stores nationwide and at www.amazon.com, www.zulily.com and www.woolino.com from May 2015 through November 2017 for between $50 and $60.
