Manufacturer Libbey Glass, in conjunction with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), has recalled about 229,000 8-oz. bourbon taster glasses due to a laceration hazard. Libbey has received two reports of incidents involving 12 glasses breaking. No injuries have been reported. While Libbey drinkware is sold by ASI-listed suppliers, none of those firms were named in the recall notice and the recalled item is not found in ESP.

According to a CPSC release, the recalled glasses are made of clear, colorless glass and measure about 3 7/8 inches tall. They have one of three logos laser-etched on the bottom that read: “Kentucky Bourbon Trail,” “Kentucky Bourbon Trail Craft Tours” or “SIV.” 

The glasses, which were made in the USA, were sold at Libbey outlet stores in Shreveport, LA, and Toledo, OH, Total Wine stores nationwide, various distillery gift shops, by commercial customers for use in restaurants, and online at libbey.com, iwawine.com and kybourbontrailshop.com from May 2017 through October 2017. The items were priced between $20 and $25 for the four-piece set, and $6 for the glass sold individually.

Officials are asking consumers to immediately stop using the recalled glasses and return them to the place of purchase for a full refund. Commercial customers should reach out to Libbey to arrange for a credit, full refund or replacement.
