Nadel Foundation Donates $1 Million to Santa Barbara City College

A school where the late entrepreneur Jack Nadel served as a teacher and mentor now bears his name. Santa Barbara City College (SBCC) recently dedicated the revamped Jack and Julie Nadel School of Business and Entrepreneurship, made possible by a $1 million donation from Nadel’s widow, Julie, and the Nadel Foundation.

Nadel, the founder of Top 40 distributor Jack Nadel International (asi/279600), died last year at age 92.

The endowment fund established by the $1 million gift will support, in perpetuity, the highest needs of the programs in the school of business, according to SBCC.

“I’m thrilled to honor Jack’s groundbreaking business legacy by fostering future generations of entrepreneurs here,” Julie Nadel said when the foundation’s gift was first announced earlier this year. “The creation of a physical incubator space, combined with outstanding teachers and programs, will support a magnificent business division where ideas will take flight to benefit future generations.”

SBCC representatives were pleased. Anthony E. Beebe, college president, said the donation ensures that Jack Nadel would be inspiring and supporting entrepreneurs and business students for years to come.

During a career that spanned more than seven decades, Nadel started, acquired and operated more than a dozen companies worldwide. He wrote several business books and even hosted a TV show from 1996-2001 that featured in-depth conversations with leaders and celebrities. He also lectured at several colleges and universities. Nadel was also an avid philanthropist who started The Nadel Foundation in 1990.
