CASE STUDY
Style & Practicality
The in-home care industry is growing. Savvy distributors and suppliers are partnering up to capitalize on the expansion by delivering uniform solutions for clients in this strengthening market.
For the last two years, Edwards Garment (asi/51752), through a distributor client, has outfitted employees of a successful home health-care company in a stylish blended piqué polo (65% poly/35%) that features a tipped collar and cuffs, wrinkle-resistance, an extended tail and more. The polo (1510 mens/5510 womens), which comes in six color combinations, features the agency's logo embroidered on the left chest. Edwards fulfilled an initial order of 150 pieces, but has gone on to deliver additional units as the program progresses. "People are letting the agency's employees into their homes, so it's very important that they look good and be easily identifiable," says Taraynn Lloyd, marketing director at Edwards Garment. This polo allows the end-users to do both those things.
Worn by staffers that range from nurses and aides to occupational therapists, the polo appeals to the agency for a variety of reasons. Female employees love that it comes in a ladies' cut, while men appreciate the maneuverability for which the extended tail allows. The tipped collar and cuffs add fashion-forward flair that wearers favor, too. "It's durable," says Lloyd, "and easily washed at home, which end-users also like."
POLO SHIRTS
Polos play a key part in powering sales of shirts, a category that accounts for nearly 20% of distributor revenue in the ad specialty industry. When pitching polos, make clients aware that they can augment left-chest logos with branding placements on other areas of the shirt. An increasing number of buyers are opting for logos on sleeves and collars.
